OUR

VENUES

We hold events in a variety of venues throughout the year. Our primary venue for the Symphony Orchestra is the Clark State Performing Arts Center while the Jazz Orchestra calls the John Legend Theater home.

All events featured in our calendar of events will show their unique locations.

Clark State Performing Arts Center

The Clark State Performing Arts Center is home to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. This incredible facility, one of the finest concert venues in Ohio, features the 1,490-seat Kuss (rhymes with the “cus” in “cushion”) Auditorium, our symphony hall.

The auditorium is a state-of-the-art, acoustically magnificent musical instrument in its own right. As one would expect, it is also a feast for the eyes.

The expandable stage is large enough for the Mahler Resurrection Symphony, but the hall also is sensitive enough for a chamber music recital. The seats are comfortable, so squirming is blessedly eliminated.

If you’re in the southwest Ohio area, visit the Clark State Performing Arts Center for a musical experience to remember!

John Legend Theater

John Legend Theater

The John Legend Theater is home to the Springfield Jazz Orchestra and many of our Youth concerts.  With a $2.5 million dollar renovation to the existing auditorium, lobby, and Clifton Avenue entrance located at The Springfield Center of Innovation: The Dome, formerly Springfield South High School, the JLT opened in 2016. The theater holds 680 seats and was funded by a lead donation of $500,000 from Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Grammy winning artist John Legend, who is a graduate of the Springfield City School District. Many other donors have joined this effort, including Speedway, LLC, Security National Bank, the Turner Foundation, the Springfield Foundation, and several generous individuals. The Springfield City School District Board of Education provided additional funding to complete the project.

The John Legend Theater opened in the fall of 2016 to serve the Springfield City School District and the Springfield community.

The John Legend Theater is located within the Springfield Center of Innovation: The Dome in Springfield’s Promise Neighborhood, where there is a real opportunity to make a positive difference in young people’s lives. Springfield City School District currently engages youth in creative pursuits via its CareerConnectED Center at the Dome. The John Legend Theater enhances the cultural opportunities for youth and the entire community.
