Welcome to Jordan Millard new Springfield Youth Symphony conductor
SUPPORT
THE SSO
Ticket sales cover less than 30% of the orchestra’s operating expenses, making contributed income essential to the SSO’s survival. In this way, the SSO is no different than any other American orchestra. The difference is that this orchestra is yours!
Our upcoming season will reach thousands of individuals with exciting and diverse programming that includes our six-concert subscription series, three youth orchestras, children’s chorus, numerous educational opportunities for all ages, the Symphony Chorale, and a variety of community outreach activities including our much-loved “Lunch on the Lawn” summer concert series. We also continue to reach over 1,500 schoolchildren every year with our Concerts for Young People, and our Students at the Symphony program serving inner-city youth. Your generosity makes all of this possible!

Other Ways to Give
John Smarelli Concertmaster Chair Endowment Fund
The John Smarelli Concertmaster Chair Endowment Fund was established to provide ongoing annual support for the Springfield Symphony concertmaster position. Each year, the SSO receives a portion of the interest or earnings from the endowment to use for the salary for the orchestra concertmaster. The principal for the endowment will always remain intact but will generate monies for this annual expense for generations to come.
This fund honors John Smarelli’s extraordinary legacy with the Springfield Symphony, the Springfield Youth Orchestras, the Springfield City Schools, area colleges and his lively performances through the decades. Please consider a gift to this endowment to fund the John Smarelli Concertmaster Chair in perpetuity.
To donate by check or for more information on the Smarelli Concertmaster Chair, please contact Sarah McPherson at the Springfield Foundation, 333 N Limestone St #201, Springfield, OH, 45503, sarah@springfieldfoundation.org, 937-324-8773.

Each year the WASSO ladies organize and sponsor a Homes for the Holidays Tour, Kitchen Tour, and a summer Garden Tour. They also sell beautiful mums each fall and hanging baskets in spring. The WASSO ladies “Pass the Hat” during the Summer Arts Festival and assist the SSO staff as needed.
This “fun-loving” and “music loving” group meets seven times each year. All meeting are social with music education components included. For more WASSO information or membership details, contact WASSO President, Karen Shylo at 937-717-6345.
