The Springfield Youth Orchestras and Children’s Chorus are getting very excited for the 15th annual Play and Sing-a-thon. This fundraiser is a unique educational event that offers SYO, SYCO, SYSE and SCC members a fun evening of fellowship and music performance, while helping to raise money to support these youth education programs. The money raised at this event helps to offset the difference between student tuition fees and total costs of the program to the Springfield Symphony.

How does the Play and Sing-a-thon work? Students simply approach teachers, friends, and family members and request a pledge for the night they participate in the Play and Sing-a-thon. The students will then honor their pledge promises by participating in the Play-a-thon event at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Limestone St., Springfield, on Friday, January 22nd, 2022, beginning at 5:00 PM. The evening will include dinner, followed by sectionals, rehearsals, and fun and engaging sessions on a variety of musical topics that students will be able to select from.

The Play and Sing-a-thon kicks off the 2nd semester and is a tremendous time of team building! Each student is given a pledge packet in the fall, and they will be encouraged to gather pledges from friends and relatives during the upcoming holiday season.
